I enjoy creating a narrative through harnessing the power of words.

As a Muslim American Bengali woman who observes hijab, people often mistake me to be foreign simply due to my attire. I realized I needed to champion the marginalized by debunking similar stereotypes. I fell in love with words from a young age, and with over a decade of writing experience, I continue to be fascinated by its power.

Thus far, my work appears in The New York Times, National Geographic, Forbes, VICE, Vox, The Daily Beast, Vanity Fair, Refinery29, Bustle, Ms. Magazine, The American Prospect, Prism Reports, Zagat and more.

I have been named a Higher Education Fellow, Knight Science Journalism Fellow at Massachusetts Institute at Technology, Education Writers Association Fellow and Religion News Service Association Fellow among others. Further, I founded a non-profit for which I was invited to the White House twice during Obama’s presidency for interfaith cooperation and social entrepreneurship.

Formerly, I am a medical student. While I love the sciences, being entrenched deep within didn’t sit well with me. Instead, I wanted to admire and uplift the important work through words. I strategize and assist clients with their businesses to tell their stories along with fact-checking and copy-writing. Additionally, I coach students from elementary to college in different areas including crafting personal statements and application essays. I have also been profiled and featured in numerous magazines and online publications.

When I’m not writing, I enjoy spending time with family, dabbling in photography, and going for long walks around nature.
